since 1997.

In 1997 TPL Media launched Catering Plus New Zealand’s only business to business publication specifically for the catering industry. While TPL Media had a previous catering title that evolved to become sister publication, Hospitality magazine, Catering Plus had a stronger focus on industrial and institutional foodservice.

Mediaweb purchased Catering Plus from TPL Media in 2011.

Today, a snapshot of the industry shows an enormous variation not only in the size of catering operations but also in what they consider their core business. And while many caterers in 2011 are gearing up for this country’s largest sporting event, the Rugby World Cup, many more are going about their business from providing nourishing meals to exquisite events and a raft of services in between.

As this industry has advanced so too has Catering Plus, moving into website publishing and e-newsletters.

Our print version, published bi-monthly, is distributed to contract caterers, hospitals, rest homes, tertiary educational organisations, boarding schools, stadiums, staff cafeterias, prisons and conference venues. It provides coverage of industry events and news, world news, new product development, and features a range of topics designed to provide information and innovative ideas and to encourage business development.

Regular topics include:

• food safety and hygiene – focusing primarily in the kitchen but also including washroom hygiene
• equipment – new kitchen installations/site coverage
• special needs diets
• convenience foods
• National Heart Foundation – promoting healthy eating
• Ecoplatter – environmentally sustainable practices.

Catering Plus considers itself a member of this industry and supports it through sponsorships and through its annual Table Design Award.
