Send those you love to the lions

Gina & Nathan, lion eating
Gina Harper helps Orana Park keeper, Nathan, with feeding the lions

One year on from the first major Christchurch earthquake, Lion launched a campaign to show Cantabrians that Kiwis still care.
“Lions for Christchurch” was the brainchild of young, Christchurch-based Lion
employee Gina Harper.

Gina could see first-hand the suffering her city was still experiencing, and wanted to find a way to bring some joy into the lives of those affected.
With support from her employer, 3500 pieces of Lion merchandise went for sale on TradeMe, with the proceeds used to buy Orana Wildlife Park tickets to give to deserving Christchurch families.
Anyone who purchased an item could nominate a family to go in the draw. Thirteen families were nominated, so Lion was thrilled to be able to send every one of them to Orana for a day of fun.
However, funds from the TradeMe sales remain, so Lion is offering the public the chance to win these tickets for their family, or a family that they feel deserves a break.
Orana Wildlife Park family passes will be given away through regional media nationwide. Lion is encouraging Kiwis to enter the draw, not necessarily for  themselves, but for the chance to send some love to a Christchurch family they know.
This campaign is not about rebuilding the city; itʼs about rebuilding the people, and reminding them that good times still exist.

WIN

Catering Plus has a family pass for two adults and three children under 14 years old to Orana Wildlife Park to give away. To enter the draw, simply send an email to: cynthiad@mediaweb.co.nz nominating a family. You must include the name of the family, their postal address and a contact phone number. Entries close on Thursday, October 20, 2011. One lucky family will be drawn from the entries.
