England’s pricey pud

World's most expensive dessert A British chef has created the world’s most expensive dessert – a Fabergé egg-like creation (pictured) with a price tag of almost $45,000. Marc Guibert, from Lindeth Howe Country House Hotel in Cumbria, used gold leaf, champagne jelly and a two-carat diamond to complete the sweet treat; as well as four different types of Belgian chocolate flavoured with a combination of peach, whisky and orange. His efforts were in celebration of British Chocolate Week, held last week.

Prior to this, the world’s most expensive dessert was one made by Serendipity 3 Restaurant in New York.
